STI Services will involve a medical consultation with an experienced practitioner, a sexual history, a medical examination and STI testing. Routine screening tests for Chlamydia, Gonorrhoea, HIV, Hepatitis B, Syphilis, a wart examination and HSV detection if indicated. Trichomonas, Bacterial Vaginosis, Candidiasis testing if indicated in females. If you wish to have a rapid HIV test, with the result in 15mins ask to have this added on.
Men should hold their urine for at least 1 hour prior to testing to improve accuracy of results. Women may also want to avail of their free cervical check smear if it is due through cervicalcheck.ie
All patients will have their blood tested for Blood borne viruses and may also opt for on the spot HIV testing.
Results will be texted or emailed in 3-5 working days. Positive results will be phoned and treatment offered.

This service will suit patients who are asymptomatic i.e. no unusual discharges, pains, lumps, bumps or lesions that would need to be examined or directly tested. It is more a “peace of mind” test.
With express STI testing no medical history or examination will take place. Patients will register, then have their blood taken by the doctor before being given swabs and/or a urine sample container. Men should hold their urine for one hour prior to giving a sample to increase the accuracy of testing. Express STI tests for Chlamydia/Gonorrhoea, HIV, Hepatitis B and Syphilis.
All women aged between 25-60years are entitled to free cervical cancer screening. At Himerus health we also provide this service. To find out if you are due your free smear and/or to register go to cervicalcheck.ie. If you are not due your smear with cervical check but would like a smear before you are next due one it is possible to have a private smear at Himerus Health.
This involves a longer consultation than the routine STI screen, which is also carried out if indicated. This consultation is generally for those patients who have an ongoing chronic genito-urinary medicine issue eg, vulvodynia, vulval/penile skin conditions, recurrent candidiasis. Often these patients require follow up consultations as their problems are of a more complex nature.
This generally consists of a combination of treatments often tailored to the individual’s treatment response. The team at Himerus Health STI clinic are experts with a particular interest in this area.
