Himerus Health is a community based sexual health and STI / STD testing clinic in the Meath primary care centre Dublin City. We offer STI screening tests, HSE PREP programme care, free HSE Cervical screening programme and wrap around sexual health care all within national guidelines and based in your community.
Many other services are co-located; GPs, dentists, physiotherapy, so it is therefore not obvious which service you are attending. Euromedics radiology onsite offers the benefit of same day radiology if required when attending our service. As our service is delivered by Doctors and nurses highly trained and specialised in the area of sexual health. At Himerus Health STI Clinic in Dublin, patients can opt for a range of services from routine STI screening to free cervical check screening (see cervicalcheck.ie) to getting help with more complex GUM skin issues eg lichen sclerosis. We uniquely also offer the option of self taken STI screens with our STI express service. This service suits asymptomatic patients who would like a full screen without an examination and consultation.
At Himerus Health STI clinic you can be tested and treated for chlamydia, gonorrhoea, HIV, hepatitis, syphilis, genital warts, HPV, herpes, bacterial vaginosis, trichomonas vaginalis and many other genital conditions. Results are available and called/texted to you in 3-5 days.
We also offer rapid HIV screening in Dublin with the results ready in under 20mins.

Peace of mind. Many STIs are asymptomatic . There is no way to know you do not carry one until you have a STI screen. It is good practice to do this routinely or if you have a new partner.
Genito-Urinary symptoms. An unusual discharge, rash, lump, ulcer, bleeding, discomfort or pain may be some of the symptoms that patients may want to discuss with our consultants. These symptoms may indicate an infection or may be due to some other pathology that needs investigated.
Genital skin conditions. Our consultants have a special interest in this area and most of these conditions are not related to STIs but can be treated at Himerus Health.
Smear testing. We are registered with cervical check and can provide both free and private cervical screening, and HPV typing. To check if you are eligible for a free screen go to cervicalcheck.ie and enter your PPS number.
Vaccinations. As with all aspects of medicine prevention is better than cure and at Himerus Health we promote the use of vaccinations in “at risk” groups.
PREP As a HSE PREP provider we can enrol you on the Free HSE HIV PREP programme if you are a suitable candidate.
Dr Loy is a sexual health (Genito-Urinary Medicine) specialist . She graduated from Trinity college in 2004 and completed her specialist training in St James’s Hospital, before setting up the Himerus Health community based STI Clinic in 2014.
Dr Loy is the president of the SSSTDI in Ireland, the National Speciality director of Genito-Urinary Medicine training in Ireland, the Director of the STI foundation course. Dr Loy works in St James’s hospital, the Coombe hospital and for the HSE womans health project, and sits on the clinical advisory group of the National sexual health strategy.
Dr Loy has been a vocal advocate, utilising her strong media presence to regularly appear on TV, Radio, podcast and in the press to advocate for increased awareness in the area of sexual health, trying to destigmatise it and encourage patients to not be embarrassed to come forward for the care they need and deserve.
Dr Loy has a special interest in Human Papilloma Virus (HPV) and HSV (herpes) infection. Dr Loy has great success in treating both of these conditions and explaining to patients what it means to have these infections, as often they are very misinformed from “Dr Google”.
Dr Loy has completed diplomas in Genito-Urinary Medicine, HIV medicine, family planning and in leadership and quality in healthcare management. She has always been interested in delivering the best quality service for her patients in a professional and non judgmental manner.
Dr Loy has won awards for teaching, and her work on HPV and HIV. She has been an invited guest lecturer at Aarhaus University in Denmark as well as regularly teaching other healthcare professionals about STI’s through STIF courses, the RCPI teaching programme and conferences. She has presented her research in this area internationally and in peer reviewed journals.
Sandra Delamere has been a pioneer in the area of sexual health in Ireland. Having over 40 years experience in this area. She was the first Advanced Nurse Practitioner (ANP) in sexual health in Ireland, and now works as a nurse consultant. She was instrumental in setting up the first sexual health services in St James’s Hospital, where she worked from 1987 until 2016.
She completed her Masters degree in Trinity in 2001 where she undertook her research in HIV education. She has facilitated the Sexually Transmitted Infections Foundation (STIF) Course for several years and is an active member of The Society for the Study of Sexually Transmitted Diseases Ireland (SSSTDI).
She trained many other nurses and doctors in this area and now brings her expertise and very caring nature to Himerus Health. She is experienced across the board in sexual health and has a particular interest is genital warts /HPV.
