This service will suit patients who are asymptomatic i.e. no unusual discharges, pains, lumps, bumps or lesions that would need to be examined or directly tested. It is more a “peace of mind” test. With express STI testing no medical history or examination will take place. Patients will register and be given swabs or a urine sample container after indicating which swab pack they require, heterosexual male, female, or MSM (men who have sex with men), MSM ‘s are given additional swabs for throat and rectum as well as a container for urine. Men should hold their urine for one hour prior to giving a sample to increase the accuracy of testing. Express STI tests for Chlamydia/Gonorrhoea, HIV, Hepatitis B and Syphilis.

Himerus Health is located in a multipurpose health care centre which provides many health care services from dental care, radiology, physiotherapy, and GP services, therefore it is not obvious what you are attending for.

This involves a longer consultation than the routine STI screen, which is also carried out if indicated.
This consultation is generally for those patients who have an ongoing chronic genito-urinary medicine issue eg, vulvodynia, vulval/penile skin conditions, recurrent candidiasis, erectile dysfunction.
Often these patients require follow up consultations as their problems are of a more complex nature.
This generally consists of a combination of treatments often tailored to the individual's treatment response. The consultants at Himerus Health STI clinic are experts with a particular interest in this area.
PEP is “the morning after pill” for HIV. PEP reduces the chance of becoming infected with HIV post a potential HIV exposure. PEP treatment involves taking a combination of antiretroviral drugs for 28 days. They can only be initiated within 72hours of an exposure. Exposures may be via sexual exposure, a needlestick injury or splash form a potential source. If the exposure occurs outside of clinic hours you should present to your nearest emergency department or GUM clinic for treatment as soon as possible.
