Pelvic Inflammatory Disease
11, November 2014

Pelvic inflammatory disease (PID) is caused by infections from the genital tract such as chlamydia and gonorrhoea.

PID may lead to fertility issues, ectopic pregnancies and chronic pelvic pain if not diagnosed and treated. Most women’s fertility remains unaffected after one episode of PID. The sooner in the infection is treated the better. Signs of PID are pain on sexual intercourse, pelvic and lower abdominal pain, unusual vaginal discharge, fever and unusual bleeding patterns.

At Himerus Health we can diagnose and treat PID without the need for further onward referral. The co-location of Himerus Health with a radiology service ensures you can easily avail of scans if required to aid diagnosis.
