We recommend routine screening once or twice a year, if you have symptoms or whenever you have a new sexual partner. If you are enrolled in the HSE PREP programme for HIV prevention, the HSE national framework guidelines recommend testing every 3-6 mths and to have regular monitoring that your treatmetn is safe and effective.
We offer diagnosis and treatment of genital warts using cryotherapy and/or prescription medication. While many patients only require one treatment, HPV—the virus that causes warts—can persist in the body, but will usually clear over time. How are genital warts treated during pregnancy?
Most warts resolve naturally within three months postpartum. However, cryotherapy is a safe treatment option during pregnancy. Topical home treatments are not recommended.
